Durham Youth Gang Strategy (DYGS)

About the Program

Starting in 2006, DFCC worked in partnership with the Murray McKinnon Foundation on a six year youth gang intervention project which established the Durham Youth Gang Strategy. This project was originally funded by the National Crime Prevention Centre.

Today, DFCC’s DYGS program provides one-to-one outreach, mentoring, counselling, as well as reintegration and intervention services to youth who have offended between the ages of 12-17, who are identified as gang involved or at high risk of gang involvement. Referrals are received from probation offices throughout Durham Region.
